Several years ago I was in Brooklyn to produce a comedy show, and struggling to find a parking spot. Then suddenly this ominous storm came in, the wind picked up, and these big, round, grey clouds filled the sky. I wrote the first few lines for “Strange Weather,” then. As I developed the song over the years, it became a song about climate change. I am addressing people who don’t believe in climate change, and asking them to pay attention to the fires in California and the massive storms around the country.

Suddenly the sky’s darkening
Casting shadows on 7th in Brooklyn
You don’t know why

Clouds overtake the sunset
Dry places all turn to wet
Where there was desert
Now it’s a mud pit

And there was a tornado in Springfield, just by your house
All of a sudden the wind thrashed you around

Strange weather comes, but it don't go
Boston’s drowning in 9 feet of snow
Lightning strikes and then the power goes
And you don't know why

Heavy water falling down, down, down
Yet California’s still in drought
Trees smoking up
But you still have doubt
